Achēv’s Building Strong Foundations – WELD Program, delivered in partnership with the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Group, is designed for youth aged 18–29 in Peel and Halton who are interested in starting a career in the skilled trades. 

Program Details:

  • 8 weeks of hands-on welding training delivered by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) in Milton, with a weekly stipend provided
  • 1 week of employability skills training (resume support, mock interviews, job readiness)
  • 8-week paid job placement with an employer in the industry
  • All equipment provided at no cost

Cohort 1: May 11 – July 3, 2026 (9 weeks)

  • Online Micro – May 11-22, 2026
  • COI Welding – May 25-June 18, 2026
  • Cobalt Training – June 22-25, 2026
  • Autobody Repair – June 29-July 3, 2026
  • 1 week of employability skills
  • 8 weeks of on-the-job paid training – to commence after in-class training

 

Eligibility
  • Youth between the ages of 18 and 29 years
  • Youth who are unemployed, not in school and not in training
  • Resident of Halton or Peel region
  • Legally allowed to work in Canada (valid SIN number)
  • Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, and Convention Refugee

This program is funded by Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) Canada, Employment Ontario and Province of Ontario.
