Completed Phases

Phase 1 & 2

From July to August 2022, we conducted consultations with 119 immigrant and racialized women and young women across the GTA. We heard stories about their experiences with the Canadian labour market, barriers to employment, the impact of COVID-19 in their careers, and their recommendations to employers and service providers on how to better welcome women into the Canadian workforce. Find our report below.

We also conducted consultations with employers and key stakeholders from January to March 2023. We got valuable insights into their thoughts on the integration of immigrant and racialized women in the labour market, as well as their solutions-oriented recommendations for recruitment, hiring and retention of immigrant and racialized women. Read our summaries below.

Phase 3

Based on what we heard from employers, stakeholders and community members, we launched two initiatives for employers and community members:

  • Panel Discussion series “DEIA in Conversation – Rethinking the Approaches to DEIA”
  • Training series “DEIA in Action – Towards an Equitable and Inclusive Workforce”

You can learn more about what we heard from our esteemed panelists and facilitators in the Achēv blogs page.

We are also happy to share our toolkit for employers: “Paving the Way – A Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Guide to Support Immigrant and Racialized Women in the Canadian Labour Force”. Find how to access it below.

This project has been funded through Women and Gender Equality Canada’s Women’s Program.
