Webinar 2: How to Use the National LINC Curriculum Guidelines (NLCG) - For Stage I Instructors

Welcome to the new National LINC Curriculum Guidelines! This webinar will demonstrate to Stage I Instructors how the NLCG website can be used to create tailored training materials for learners. You will understand how to navigate the site, from the Get Started section through to the Essential Components, Real World Task Guidelines, and Detailed Sample Tasks. We will also discuss how the sections can be used and combined to meet the needs of various teaching and learning contexts.
Presenters:
- Carol Derby is one of the principal writers for the NCLG. She has been active in the EAL field for 30 years. She works at ISANS, where she has been an instructor, curriculum developer and manager. With an MEd in Adult Education, she has sat on numerous boards, including the CCLB, New Language Solutions, and the National Language Advisory Body (NLAB). Her consultancy work also includes the CCLB’s Language for Success project.
- Setsu Kawahara (she/her) is one of the principal writers for the National LINC Curriculum Guidelines, focusing on EAL Literacy and CLB Stage I. Currently working as a language assessor for the capital region in Ottawa, Setsu brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to the field of Literacy and Stage I Instruction.
