Improve Your English at Home with
Our Free Language Training Program

Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) is an English language training program funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). LINC Home Study Ontario provides free distance education for eligible newcomers to Canada who cannot attend LINC classes in person in Ontario.

You will be matched with an instructor for weekly one-on-one classes by phone or video conference. Your instructor will tailor your learning plan based on your needs, provide you with ongoing support and give you regular feedback on your learning progress. All you need is 5 hours for self-paced learning each week.

Eligibility

• Permanent Resident, Convention Refugee, Protected Person, or Temporary Resident (MOME2023)

• 18 years of age or older

• Unable to attend LINC classes in person*

• A minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score of 2 for listening, speaking, reading and writing**

• Access to a computer/laptop and internet

* You cannot attend another government funded ESL program (ESL, LINC, ELT, OSLT, Citizenship, etc.) at the same time as LINC Home Study.

**A CLB assessment from a Language Assessment and Referral Centre is a pre-requisite. To complete a language assessment, please book an appointment.
