The Skills for Success in Food Services and Accommodation program, funded by Employment and Social Development Canada under the Skills for Success initiative, empowers individuals across Canada to build foundational and transferable skills essential for careers in hospitality. Designed to support newcomers, women, youth, and racialized communities, this program enhances key social and emotional skills needed to secure and excel in employment within food services and accommodation. Participants will benefit from two specialized training courses and assessment tools tailored to three in-demand roles in the industry. These resources are offered online at no cost and are available in English and accessible formats. By addressing essential workplace skills, this program opens pathways to employment and professional development, contributing to a skilled, diverse, and resilient workforce in the Canadian hospitality sector.
Achev and its partners, Ontario Restaurant Hotel and Motel Association (ORHMA), the Essential Skills Group Inc. (ESG), and AyeWorks Inc. will help Canadians at all skill levels improve their foundational and transferable skills for all nine Skills for Success, with an emphasis on the social and emotional skills, to better prepare for, get, and keep a job, and adapt and succeed at work. This project aims to design and implement two training courses and develop assessment tools for three in-demand occupations in the hospitality industry for newcomers, women, youth, and racialized individuals. The courses and tools will be made available online in English and/or in an alternate accessible format at no cost to Canadians.
