This program delivered in partnership with Humber Polytechnic equips youth participants to complete Level 1 in-class apprenticeship training, register as apprentices, and secure entry-level positions as General Machinists and Millwrights within one to three months of completing their training.
Highlights:
- 10-week in-person General Machinist and Millwright training plus 2 weeks Jobs Search and Employability Skills either virtual or in person
- Located at Humber Polytechnic’s Centre for Skilled Trades and Technology (Etobicoke)
- In-class training 24 hours per week, may include weekends or evenings
- Prepares racialized youth for apprenticeships and careers in the skilled trades
- Participants also receive job search support, including resume building, interview preparation and career coaching
- Includes Working at Heights and First Aid/CPR training
Eligibility
- Youth ages 18 to 29 years old, from underserved groups and who are not in employment, education, or training
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Pre-registration interview required
