The Empowering Youth-Futures in Trades (EY-FiT) Program, funded by the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, offers a pathway for racialized youth, between the ages of 18 and 29, to launch successful careers in the skilled trades. This comprehensive initiative is a partnership between Achēv and Humber Polytechnic and is designed to equip participants with the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary to begin their careers as General Machinists and Millwrights.
The EY-FiT program’s core objective is to enable youth participants to achieve several key milestones: successful completion of Level 1 in-class apprenticeship training, official registration as apprentices in their chosen trade, and assistance with securing entry-level employment opportunities within one to three months of completing their training.
Why hire an EY-FiT graduate?
- Industry-Ready Skills: Graduates complete Level 1 in-class apprenticeship training, providing them with a strong theoretical and practical foundation.
- Comprehensive Training: The 10-week in-person program includes hands-on training in their chosen trade, plus crucial job readiness development.
- Safety Certified: All graduates receive Working at Heights and First Aid/CPR certifications, ensuring they are prepared for a safe work environment.
- Motivated and Eager to Learn: These young individuals are enthusiastic about building careers in the trades and are ready to contribute to your team.
