“Before arriving in Canada, I had three years of experience of working in the Learning & Development sector of Human Resources. I started my career in Canada as a recruiter and had the ultimate goal of securing a position within Learning & Development. The main challenges I faced when I began my job search in Canada were getting my resume shortlisted for positions I was applying to. I also faced a bit of a challenge with interviews and how to correctly respond to behavioural based questions. The TRIEC Mentorship program was of great help for me to achieve my career goal in Canada. My mentor helped me update my resume, which leads to me receiving many interview calls. My mentor also guided me and helped me enhance my interview skills and conducted various practice interviews and gave me valuable feedback. A month after the program, I was successful in receiving an offer as a learning Associate from an organization I really wanted to work for.”
"I applied to Achēv’s TRIEC mentorship program in November after two months of setting foot in Canada. Very soon after that, I was matched with my mentor Rebecca W. Rebecca has been a wonderful mentor to me. She is a young professional with an impressive profile and also a skilled immigrant like me. I’m happy to be Rebecca’s mentee because she is very supportive, friendly and knowledgeable. Her insights on Canadian work culture and higher education have helped my new journey here. It was extremely difficult to get a job in 2020 because of COVID-19 and my family’s resettlement process in a new country. However, Rebecca believed in me and gave me the strength and encouragement to persevere during this time. She is also super understanding. She understands how hard it is for a mother of two children to settle and land a job in Canada. After two months of working with Rebecca, I got a job that I wanted in my professional field and have been happily working since then."
