The Healthcare Integration and Career Advancement Program (HICAP) is a 26-week program that combines online academic training from Toronto Metropolitan University with employment support from Achēv, helping internationally educated professionals transition into non-licensed healthcare administrative roles such as Healthcare Administrator, Project Coordinator (Health Sector), and Scheduling Supervisor.
HICAP is a 26-week program that includes:
- Academic & Technical Training delivered by Toronto Metropolitan University
- Recognition of completion for 3 courses per stream (Online)
- Health Services Management or
- Health Project Management
- Employment support components delivered by Achēv
- One-on-one and group employment coaching
- Job matching for positions in non-licensed Healthcare roles such as Healthcare Administrator, Project Coordinator (Health Sector), Scheduling Supervisor
- Networking, mentorship, and sustainable employment opportunities
The fee for this program is $300. This fee offsets the training or academic portion of the program and will be reimbursed upon program eligibility approval. The Government of Ontario kindly funds all other costs related to the program and employment services.
Internationally educated health professionals (IEHPs) with:
- Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level of 7
- Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, Protected Persons living in Ontario
- A degree, diploma, or certificate in healthcare from the home country
- At least one year of experience in healthcare in the country of origin
- NOT receiving Better Jobs Ontario or OSAP funding
